"Of" or "For"?

Which sentence is grammatically correct?

"I will be leaving San Francisco, my adopted city of five years."

OR...

"I will be leaving San Francisco, my adopted city for five years."

#1 is formally correct, but probably many natives would prefer #2 for casual use.
