Question for this sentence

Post by snoopy »

The sentence is
''Women don't want to appear as oversad or judged as melodramatic.''

I would like to ask 2 questions:
1. why there's an ''as'' after ''appear'',and then the word which is after the ''as'' is not a noun but an adjective ??
2. why isn't there a ''be'' before the word ''judged''??

Thank you for your answer :)
