Thanks for the recommendation

Post by masonsouth »

Context: The other day at the university, an exchange student from the US said the Odyssey is a good read and told me to give it a try. In response to this, can I say 'Thanks for the recommendation?'; I am not sure whether it's too formal, because we are friends, and yes or no, what can I say that is the idiomatic English that native speakers will use in such a situaton?
