Grammar help

Post by qunaa »

Me and my friend have been discussing this sentence: "I don't think all polish people can be bad".
My friend is claiming, that the sentence is incorrect, and that the "can be", should be replaced with "are", so the sentence would say "I don't think all polish people are bad".
However, while the second sentence is correct, I still think the first sentence is acceptable as well.
Please help {-:

Indeed, both are possible and virtually identical in meaning.
