usage of 'as' + past participle

Hi I always see the structure as + past participle like
as described, as provided, etc
What is the usage of this structure?

Which of the following is correct or do they have different meanings?
a. The information provided by the customers ......
b. The information as provided by the customers ......

In many cases, such as the one you cite, there is no significant difference in meaning, both being equally grammatical.
