Why it's wrong (again)

I don't understand the structure of this sentence, please explain it for me, thank a lot!
1. Sapphires weighing as much as two pounds have on occasion mined.
( I don't identify what the subject and predicate are. weighing is adjective, isn't it?)
I took it from Longman Preparation for the TOEFL test paper test.

Corrected to: Sapphires weighing as much as two pounds have on occasion BEEN mined.

the subject is 'Sapphires...pounds' and the rest is the predicate.
