Dear Alan
Is it proper to use a finite verb without subject in the subordinate clause as in:
3 a. 'Many people came than had been invited' instead of
3 b. 'Many people came than who had been invited' or
3 c. 'Many people came than the number of people who had been invited'
2 a. 'I drank before smoked' instead of
2 b. 'I drank before I smoked' or
2 c. 'I drank before smoking'
With regards
V P Kannan
