play at anything

Post by extremadura »

Hello, please, I am really in a puzzle over the following, in theory simple, sentence:" this child might be ill because he does not want to play at anything". My doubt is whether it is correct in English to say ...does not want to play at anything" or really the preposition should be omitted, or maybe expressed in a different way. Thank you

'...play' alone would probably be better in this context, although 'play anything' would also be possible.
