Being

Post by Rustamsher »

The Mahabharata or Mahābhārata is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India, the other being the Ramayana.

1) Can I use 'is' in lieu of 'being'?
2)
a) What's the grammatical function of 'being' here?
b) What's the grammatical name for 'being' here?
