I am/have yet to receive a reply

Post by Brahman »

I goggled the following two sentences, and it seems like many forums have debated about the usage of "am/have yet to", but none has given a conclusive answer as to which of the two is correct:

1. I am yet to receive to a reply from you.

2. I have yet to receive a reply from you.

Someone has even proffered an opinion that actually both structures, i.e., "am yet to receive" and "have yet to receive", are, actually, grammatically fine, but just that the first (="am yet to receive") is British English and the second is American English. Is this true?

Could someone help me?

Yes, both constructions are acceptable.

The form with 'am' may well be more prevalent in BrE.
