My opinion about globalization

Postby mircea » Wed Oct 29, 2003 8:30 am

I think that the globalization has a good and bad sides, and that depends on the countries power of accomodation into the globalized system.

For Europe this will be the end of the second year of globalization by introducing the single currency for economic transactions. By this way they've extended the market and reduced the lost in transactions and they've created the strong euro currency.

In the beginig the european citizens ware a litle confused with an idea of changing the currency into euro, but after that they've realized that it was in theirs best interest.

For coutries that are in a trasition, and want be become a part of a globalized economy they have to build first a strong economy in theirs countries to have a power to accomodate into globalization.

I've said at the begining that the globalization has the good and bad parts, the good part is that's been built a strong and single currency and a competitive market place, and the bad side or hardest thing is for countries that have to build a strong and reliable market to be a part of the globalized system.

GLOBALIZATION

I am agree with mircea's opinion

For example I'm from Venezuela and in these moments it's very hard for a Latin American country introduces in the globalization.

We have to increase our productions and improve our economy to compete with others countries.

But, the situation of Venezuela right now is not very good because we have a political crisis and this situation is harming our economic development and social environment.

It has positive and negative effects that vary not just from country to country but also within a country.

Let's assume that you are a low skilled worker in a traditional manafacturing country. Globalization bears the risk that these jobs slip away overseas or your wage decreases because your employer strives to reduce costs. Particularly vulnerable are the relatively unskilled and under-educated people, because they often can't adjust fast enough to changes. Globalization comes with a stronger use of IT-technology. Using this technology requires a certain level of education and flexibility. If you don't have it, you might lose out.

And if we look at market forces the picture is also not always a positive one. Given free reign, market forces give the rich the power to add further to their wealth. Large companies invest in poor countries only because they can make greater profits from low wage levels or because they can get access to their natural resources.

Okay, gotta go for now. If I've some more time later, I'll think of some pro-globalization arguments :)

All countries now tend to be on the global trend. It is the best way to exist now.Economy is a typical example. All countries are intergrating into the world economy. So global organizations such as UN,WTO ...are very imporatant.
The ASEM 5th is helding in Hanoi -the capital of Vietnam now at the aim of a closer relationship between Asia and Europe.
Asem is short for Asia-Europe Meeting.

Hi all

I study about globalization in the previous course . globalization is mean to be connected with all the world around you . you take from them and they take from you , whatever this exchange is in the political , cultural or economic fields .

globalization have both positive and negative side .

The positive : because i help you to be connected with all the world around you , you can for example what happend in other countries while you are sitting in your living rooms eating pop corn . globalization help you to know about new cultries and traditions , help you to grasp new modern systems of education , busniss, politics which can help to rise the standard of your country .

the negative side : that globalization make a diversity in the world where we can now see that there are countires which are domminant in different fields and thier are other countires which are under the power of the pwerful countires .

there are different perspectives about globalization we can find
globalists : who argue that globalization is an important phenomenon and the human can't stop it whatever they do . and it is have positive sides

traditionalists : who argue that globalization is having a bad effects on the world and it is not a new phenomenon because we can find that in the past there was a trade exchange between countires and it causes also exchange in traditions and cultures.

tranformalists : who are in the middle and they argue that globalization both have bad and good effects .
The one who guides to something good has a reward similar to its doer
