SOME NEWSPAPERS REALLY SHOW THE REALITY?

In today's edition of Financial Times appears a news relative to Catalan's debt:
Headline: "CATALAN CREDIT CRUNCH THREATENS TO UNDERMINE SPAIN'S EFFORT"
It's true that Catalonia has a credit debt of 10.000 million Euro. But this is not the completely reality. Catalonia is submitted by Spain to a fiscal deficit of 22.000 millions Euro per year. A really shame that is unmatched in any country in the world. With these money that takes off from Catalonia, Spain constructs big airports and wide freeways where you can make a camping because the freeways are used by three cars per hour... Yes, airports like Ciudad Real's airport (the city has 70000 inhabitants) with one four kilometres long airstrip, a facilities with capacity for two million passengers / year and a cost of 1100 millions Euro that is used by three aircraft per week of a company with deficit and subsidized by the State.
The reality is that Spain don't be able to manage the money that STOLE from Catalonia. And you know: the money you has earned with your effort don't has the same valour than the money you has easily won.

Why some newspapers don't show all reality. Only a part and no the whole reality?

Do you agree? what's your opinion?

Why some newspapers don't show all reality. Only a part and no the whole reality?
the answer is very simple: the political and economical pressures can change, distort, alter and hide events and facts.
the media is effected by these pressures and tends to create a general impression of any circumstance according to what goes with them.
may be the only true news are the sports ones!

"Reality" is such a subjective thing. News reporting, like history, requires people to leave a lot of the information out in any story. It requires people to be selective. And what they select to say is filtered by what they think is important. Everybody has their own opinion about what is important, so someone can always say that the report isn't really the truth...

Indeed ''the truth'' as Journalists say has many perspectives; thus I trust only big popular and accountable newspapers when it comes to reading the truth.

Of course newspapers never tell things 100% as they are, especially those controlled by political powers, and even more especially Spanish newspapers concerning Catalonia. You know that, Arnau. It's a shame and the world should know.

Merry Christmas to you too Elisa! As you may know we Russians have it twice as likely as Europeans, so our alpine huts have to be cleaned up twice, too. Now, that's what really annoys me!

I know that Russian Orthodox church still lives according to old Julian Calendar and celebrates Christmas on 7th January. I didn't know Russian people celebrate it twice.
I hoped you were free the 25th and one of St.Claus's reindeer. I would have had some "advantages". It's a pity, you were in a alpine hut... :-(
Be good if you don't want to receive some coal {-;

Elisa, how come that some of your comments (like this one) are so difficult to respond at?
You better tell me what's up with the links you're dropping here and there. Is it your clips"?
Andrew
Happy new year coming very close

I think you are right. I follow my mind and thoughts and I write as everybody could understand them.
Forgive me. I know this isn't the right place but I attach this poem for you and for all EClearners.

HAPPY NEW YEAR WITH THESE wise words about time, and the use we make of it...the beautiful poem is by Elli Michler:

I wish you time -
"I don't wish you all sort of gifts.
I just wish you what most people don't have:
I wish you the time to be happy and to laugh
and if you use it, you can make something out of it.
I wish you the time for your doings and thinking,
not only for yourself, but also to give away to others.
I wish you the time - not to hustle and run
but the time to be contented.
I wish you the time, not to pass just like that
I wish that some of it may be left for you
as a time to marvel and trust
instead of just looking at the time on your watch.
I wish you the time to reach for the stars
and the time to grow, to mature
I wish you the time to hope and to love
There is no sense in putting this time off.
I wish you the time to find yourself to see happiness in each day and each hour.I wish you the time also to forgive. I wish you the time to live."

It's me who must be ashamed for I can never follow to the topic. My thoughts don't get along with any topic. I wonder if it Is a kind of mental disfuntion?

Simple questions mostly imply simple answers, don't they, Elisa? Someone may will or not will answer them, but it's another question.
I'd just want to know, are you Elisa the singer, or that is another Elisa. You gave the link on 'Ideas and opinions', just before Christmas

As to making fools of others, it's not true. I mean that I never do it. Of couse, I can play fool, but for God's sake, it never imply to offend anyone!
Andrew

Which words did I teach you? Isn't it you who is used to permanently teasing me?

Answer to your question: This could be a symptom of borderline personality . :!!:

I cannot speak for you but I don’t get along, or better, I don't take part in the topics because I don’t need or feel the want to do it.Anyway I like reading the posts because it’s a good exercise to make my everyday 15 minutes of English. I am very happy when I find a new song or a story because I learn many new words and I improve my general knowledge :-) EC is very relaxing for me. It is like reading the newspapers I find at the hairdresser.
I give a link when I find something I consider new, different or useful for other EC learners. Elisa’s (not me) songs are very simple and she sings in a good, simple English (I think) . I have discovered this singer only some months ago and I love her.

We have only one life and we have to use all the stratagems to make it easier and beautiful.

Hello Elisa,
recently I watched the video you had recommended to someone, ITALIAN IN 10 MINUTES - BEST COMPLETE GESTURE'S LESSON - by CARLO AURUCCI (I couldn't remember which thread I found your link at, but it doesn't matter)
That was a real pleasure! While watching that exellent little show, I tried to copy and memorize everything. Alas, my mind isn't well-organised, so I'll hardly be able to remember all, after a while.
Now, people look strange at me, when I try to help with my hands while speaking :-)
And now I am lost in thoughts: why Italian gestures look so exact and understandable, and the ones we use in Russia - vague and polysemantic?
Do you know why?

Andrew
p.s. I just tried to attach 'La tarantella.mp3', my composition, but it looks like it's not possible. Pity.

I cannot answer to you well... it was a joke:)

I come from the North of Italy and people here is totally different in character. Unfortunately we are not so fatalist and open.
I think that weather and, as Carlo said, their history are the responsible of their way of doing.
If your gestures look so vague and polysemantic it is probably because you use only the hands. They use all their body and, above all, eyes and mouth...so funny!

The same is for music. I love it because is joyous or tragic. They don't know "gray" (stereotype). Tarantella is a South Italian country dance (XVII century). We never listen to it but I think is OK.
