Hello,
I would like to present a book about one of best known - or the best known Polish female scientist who won Nobel prize in chemistry twice. A book about her and her family.

on the other hand I must write that lately I have found a very interesting book of a German journalist (I will have to check the name next time) about Africa's wildest tribes.
The story was fascinating cause she was 58 when travelling to make a documentary about some African corruption when had a nasty car accident somewhere in the jungle.
Remember - she was 58 then.
Everyone was sure she should die or be paralysed. She survived and African Masai people helped her to get out without major problems. People in Europe called it "a miracle" and she - the journalist started to take up habits/lifestyle/wisdom of the most indgenous African tribes.
Eventually she did her last trip to Africa when ...98. And she still lives though rather publishes books than going into the jungle.
I don't know what was the name of the author. I will chck it next time. The books has about 1000 pages + plenty of diffirent pictures.
For another 40 years after very dramatic accident the woman did so many useful things and publshed 1000 book.
It is really stunning to me.
We never know what can happen tomorow;)

She sounds so incredible...I hope you find the name for us.
One of my childhood heroine was Jane Goodall. I wanted to go live with her. (around six yars old then) we ate up the National geographic magazines... mom collected them.

Hey - and for those who can be interested - nice link with Polish writers. Polish langauge literature started in XVI century (erlier Latin). Then only literature helped this nation to survive hard times. Mickiewicz is regarded as a greatest Polish poet. We are taught at schools about his works. And how is it in other countries?
