the japanese mangas are sold in most countries including mine Kuwait " english translated editions ". they're very popular, and the teens tend to learn japanese more than any language.
therefore the high schools curricula were updated recently to include everything about japan to match the students interests. :)

nihongo is a nice language although it's difficult.
i'm trying to learn it these days however i can't understand the japanese writings at all.
i just depend on the english pronunciation of japanese sentences.

As for me I'm interested in reading One Piece. I really love its story. I am amaze how Echiro Oda made a twist in the story. It is not yet done but I am looking forward on how it will end.

my niece used to read the manga ... she was happy, after ace death she has become sad and very disoppointed. she is almost 15 years old. i'm sad for her.

do you think ace will be revived, like the most of the weird evil characters?

I'm sorry to your niece Hyacinth. I feel the same when that series came out. But I think we will find out the outcome of ace sacrifice. There are only 6 characters die in the story. Not sure if I'm right. One is not named. I think Oda has surprises in the future but I don't think ace will revive. May be Luffy's another brother will show himself that he is still alive. Then we will see another cool Ace-like on that character. Hope your cousin will cheer up again. =)
