I heard that American cannot eat an octopus lately.

We eat a octopus in my country, so I was very surprised to heard that.

In your country, can you eat an octopus?

Yes of course... Seafood is very typical in my town, and octopus is really appreciated.

Personally I dislike seafood

We mix seafood with rice and noodle in my country.
We dip the octopus in soy sauce directly and eat raw.

The octopus has another name 『devilfish』.
The octopus lives in sea.

I haven't eat octopus, I think it can't buy from supermarket here. Probably there are some seafood or Japanese restaurant that offer it, but I like to eat home. Seafood(fish) I eat usually smoked or pickled(hering) or fried with eggs.. or canned.

In my country, I can buy an octopus at supermarkets a fishmonger.
And my grandfather is fisherman, so he often gives me an octopus.
When I fried an octopus, I dip a source and mayonnaise, and I eat.

Yes, seafood is often mixed with rice (not noodles, though):

In Japan, I mix seafood with spaghetti.
The seasoning is salt and pepper and soy sauce and olive oil.
I want to make seafood spaghetti because I got an octopus from the grandfather of the fisherman　today

I have been to the fishing with a father when I was children.
I was able to catch a horse mackerel and a cuttlefish then.
But it was difficult to catch an octopus.
In Japan, We catch the octopus with a spider hole.

I live in Kobe city.
Kobe is famous for takoyaki.
Have you eaten takoyaki?
When we eat takoyaki we dip the takoyaki in soup stock or sauce .
I like takoyaki dipped in sauce.

Thank you for reply, it was interesting. I didn't know what spider hole is.

When I was kid I often went to fishing with my 2 older brother. I did not liked fishing, but I liked going there with my brothers. I always got most fish also. I think I have had got only Crucian carp. We used to go fishing to 2 different forest lakes that was near. It was difficult to go there, because land was swampy, but there was a lot of fish.

I haven't ate takoyaki, but when I come to Kobe I surely will. ;)

No I`m not thinking to eat octopus in my life maybe in only one ocasion, if I get in the middle of the ocean and I don´t have any thing to eat probably I could eat octopus but only in this situation.

Yamaasu did you like that type of food of your country? How often did you eat octopus??

I mistook the word of spider hole.It means octopus pot.
Please eat takoyaki if you come to Kobe.

I was watching the travel channel today and I saw one person was eating octopus and squid ice cream. Is it true that you have octopus ice cream in Japan?

I like Japanese foods.
It is tempura and sushi.
The octopus is used for tempura and sushi.
The octopus sometimes eats.

Although I know there is jellyfish ice cream, I didn't know such ice cream.
I searched the octopus and squid ice cream on google and found them.

Have you tried them, metaltoy? Seafood ice cream??? Hmmmmm... I wonder if this ice cream is kinda like flavored gelato that we have here in Berkeley. They have all kinda flavors they made from fruits, chocolate, wine, flower, seeds, etc. into gelato, yet they don't have seafood flavor.

Unfortunately, I have never tried them. I would like to try the jellyfish ice cream only.

Is there any reason for this specification, metaltoy? Also, I wonder if they've made ice cream out of umeboshi flavor. Now that's a good dare to ask someone to do.

I have seen people ate the ice cream with a happy smile on TV.
when I saw it, I really tried it one.
Although people who live by fishing are troubled by the jellyfish.
In recent years, many huge jellyfishes come to Sea of Japan and damage fishes.　:(

Maybe someone already have made the umeboshi ice cream.
Since the flavor of umeboshi is popular in Japan such as chewing gum and candy.

Really? I heard umeboshi tastes really weird. One even said it tastes like old socks mixed with sweats. Is it true that only Japanese can take the taste of umeboshi? How often do you eat it, metaltoy? :?

I eat umeboshi almost every day.
But I don't eat a umeboshi only.
Usually I eat a umeboshi with a rice bowl of rice.
Since I eat it from a young age, I don't feel it tastes strange.
Umeboshi really suits with Japanese foods.
And since umeboshi has a long history, we know the best way to cook delicious meals with it.
