Thanks Elba, for inspiring me. I will keep that in mind from now until June. If my husband and I aren't back together by summer time , I am definitely going to take the plunge. I will also plan on swimming a minimum of 1 hour. I may plan to swim with Mr. Felix. I found out today while I was working here in the park that Mr Felix is 84 years old. I think that is a blessing from God. He is such a kind old man.

How cold does it get where you live and swim?

Well, México is a tropical country, the weather is hot, but this winter is too cold for us, sometimes the temperature at México Citi is 0 centigrades when I wake up, early morning.
I used to swimm from 08:00 to 09:00 am, I musto to use and anorak to go to the swimming pool, and after the hour or swimming, if I don´t protect me it is easily that I get sick.
At the swimming pool the temperature is from 25 to 28 maximum or 23 to 24 mínimum.
I try not to stop swimming all the hour. I make 200 mts crawl, 200 mts, backstroke, 200 mts breastrock.
Or
200 mts crawl, 200 mts different excersices for a good butterfly and 200 mts breastrock.
two days I practices aquaerobics, wich is a excellent excercise and the rest of the wekk I only swim.
Even if youget together with your housband you musto to talk with him in order to do swimming, you could invited him and he could know that it is a very beautifull activity.
Good luck

Wow I wish I could get into the pool every morning. One day I tried our pool in December...because I thought what the heck I grew up in the cold rivers of the Smokey Mountains...(before Dollywood) but it was like jumping into ice cubes water and I only did a few dives, swimming across the pool the kids in my building were there with me and I want to inspire so I pretend it is not that terrible...(it wasn't I guess) and I was officially out in about six minutes. Freezing! But I like to try new things and I was inspired by those folks that swim even when it is deep of winter cold...they are really something! Polar ice cold.

Hi Tikay,
I would have caught the flu or something. I hate to be cold. Being cold is pet pea of mine. I like toasty warm. I always wait til June to swim. Good Lord, I use to go swimming before June, but I remember, I would have to keep moving and my teeth would be chattering. LOL. Cold, cold, cold, but I sure wanted to swim. My Grandmother used to take us kids to my Aunt's house and let us swim in her pear shaped pool. My Grandmother would let us swim for a whole hour. Needless to say, she had to beg us to get out of that pool everytime. Of course, the water in Tennessee I'm sure was much, much colder. Like you say "polar ice cold".

Well, Tikay, I guess you were just born to be an example. Do yourself justice :)

I´m not in competence, I´m beginer. At the swimming pool there are swimmers than have swimm for more than 5 years and they go to competence.
Now I only do my best effort to improve my phisical condition, but belive me I have get a good velocity, unfurtunally sometimes I get to tired because of my fragil healt, remeber that my kidneys are sick.
Some trainners say that my velocity is near, every day, to the swimmers who go to competence, and give me support to contonuo swimming.

DocAndy

I use googles in order to not get red eyes. Googles are basic, if I don´t use it I couldn´t go into the swimming poll, I musto to use a cap.
I have a colection of caps and googles, acording the color of the cap: gold, pink, blue, red, withe, red with blue, etc

Last summer when I was 15 years old I joined a swim training class. Though it was a little late I enjoyed the learning of swim still, but I only know the backstroke and a little breaststroke  the worst thing is long time no swim for me I can hardly remember the right stroke. :(

Thank you, Elba. :D I think swimming is very funny and exciting, especially when you are in the swimming pool, you are having great fun splashing about. The children around you are all screaming. 8)

I like swimming very much, but only in swimming pools...I know it's strange because usually people prefer the seaside, but I really HATE salt water. So I go to the seaside only to sunbathe and walk on the beach
