Golf is a sport that is a uniquely individual humanistic art

Do you think golf is boring? If your answer is yes, on 2nd thoughts--you don't have any. That means you've never given it a 2nd thought.

To appreciate golf for the true individualized sport it is, you have to be a golfer or you've been a golfer at some point in your life.

Looks can be deceiving when you watch the Pro-golfers play.

If you've never played golf and you watch a golfer play, you have no idea and just cannot comprehend or even fathom what he or she is doing.

T-boxes are where you "drive" the ball without a steering wheel of course. Fairways are where you want to drive the ball--and I didn't say freeway. Remember, golf is played on the golf course--no cars allowed.

The first cut(refers to grass--not hair) runs along beside the fairway and that means the grass is a little bit longer than the fairway is.

Then there's the rough and that area is next to the first cut and its normally hard to hit a ball out of the rough.

There are fairway bunkers and greenside bunkers(not for military use), also referred to as sand traps or some people call them the beach. Holes in the ground filled with sand--you decide what you want to call them.

I love golf!!!!!And I miss my husband!!!!

My god I love golf !! I miss playing golf. I lived in Ireland and started playing there, I wasn't so good but I did from time to time play a pretty good round. Where I lived there were 9 gold courses (par 3's to full courses) within a 25km radius. I had 3 regular partners and we just had a lot of fun. I now live in Slovakia and there are so few courses in this country and its a very expensive sport here whereas in Ireland everyone plays. Its so cold here in winter that it would be impossible to play but in Ireland I remember playing on Christmas day, and besides its the best cure for a hangover ever. I adore this sport but I would find it boring to watch on TV. I MISS GOLF !!!!

I want to play....golf

Postby tikay » Tue Jan 10, 2006 2:30 am

I really want to learn to play golf...it seems like a great thing to do with your clutch of best buddies. I used to think it was moronic but that is just because I thought that only wealthy people played it and I was against it on those grounds. Plus I just loved other sports too much to consider it and goodness it is really boring to watch if you know nothing about it.
I am going to go try it soon.

I didn't grow up playing golf. It wasn't in my family. None of my relatives played. My husband introduced me to golf. His first pair of golf shoes were used golf shoes and the ugliest old fashioned golf shoes you've ever seen. But he didn't care what anybody thought because he was determined to learn golf. He started learning golf in his late 40's. He has become an excellent golfer. As a matter of fact, he is going to retire teaching golf. I have become a good golfer as well. Of course, we practiced alot. Nearly everyday we went to the golf course. I recommend golf for anybody any age, if they enjoy being outside.
