OK I'm leaving for London in two weeks and I made a list of interesting places I want to visit. Like Rui suggested, I'm giving all of you the list with the hope that anybody that has been there can give their suggestions about other "musts" to see in London. This is my list (quite conventional I think :D)

Picadilly Circus
Trafalgar Square
Westminster Abbey
Hyde Park (&Speaker's Corner)
London Eye
British Museum
Covent Garden
Buckingham Palace
Oxford Street (and other commecial streets like Carnaby St)
Windsor Castle

I would like to know if any of you knows any good restaurants too. Thanks to all!

I was there last September and I have visited a few places. Your list is very good except the Buckingham Palace. I was disappointed with this place. All we had to do is standing at the gate and watching the royal guard. There was not much thing to see.

I would suggest you to visit Big Bang. It is one of the most famous buildings. It’s now where The Houses of Parliament occupying. There is a short walk from here to London Eye. The London Bridge is amazing architecture. You can walk cross the bridge and see The Tower of London. The Tower of London is one of the most famous and well preserved historical buildings in the world. It has also known as the execution place. There were many people executed included queens Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard the wife of King Henry VIII. The Thames cruise is very good tour to see the historical buildings and bridges along the river. Every thing there is so expensive. It is double price from where I live. To me life in London is similar to New York style. If you love New York, you must love London. I wish you have a great time.

Thanks a lot, Vince. I LOVED New York, I can't wait to go back. If you say I'm gonna like London the same way, you just made my day! :D

Thanks for your suggestions. I was planning to visit Big Ben and the Tower of London as well. I didn't know about the cruises though.

BTW, London is said to be the most expensive city in the world :!:

Dixie, I love London and I think you'll love it. I usually spent my holidays there when I studied at the University and I went back there for a few days last December.
What I love most in London is the British Museum, Oxford Street, the Tower Bridge, Covent Garden, Westminster Abbey, the Windsor Castle, Hyde Park while I don't like very much Portobello Market, Greenwich and Madame Tussaud's.
As regards restaurants, if you like Indian food, just next to Earl's Court underground station there is a superb and nice Indian Restaurant (Masala), but if you want to eat English food, I think the best solution is to eat in one of the pubs, where you can usually find very good pies (with chicken, lamb, etc.) and/or in a tea-room, where you can find carrot cakes, apple cakes, muffins, scones with butter and jam.
Finally, don't miss the best cookies I've ever eaten: at Covent Garden in a corner there is a small bakery, called UNCLE BEN which sells hot cookies prepared according to a secret recipe.
They're really very very good... hmmm, I'd like to have Ben's cookies in Rome too!! :)

It's just great. With views of the houses of parliament, and the National Gallery is right there.

I have visited a Hyde Park a few month ago with my fellows. I had a great experienced there. It is the largest park covers a 142 hectares land area. It has 4,000 trees, lake and offers to enjoy the facilities like skating, swimming, cycling, boating, tennis courts, and tracks for the horse ridding and an ideal for the children. For the winter season it gives a best option of ice skating to its visitors. Sperpentine Bridge is the best one to visit if you visit the park then must visit it.
