The history of O.K.

Hi all....

Think many used to be wonder the same that why we use "O.K" when we want to say that everything is ok. What does it exactly mean? I just stopped by the good website today and wanna share with you.

That's interesting, I thought the story of OK was another...

I searched the Wikipedia and there's some more info about this:


This is the one I knew:

Another version is that the term was used by U.S. military during the American Civil War to state that there were zero casualties or zero killed ("0K"), hence 0.K., at a particular battle site; also, the hand signal with thumb and fore finger touching as to form a zero, signifying zero killed.

Both stories sound interesting anyway.

that's true - both versions seem to be absolutely wonderful, but I heard about the first one. And I am asking the same question too

I haven't heard either one of them. I like the first story, though. O.K= Oll Korrect. 8) :twisted:
