Does PC games cause addiction?

Postby Vega » Sun Jul 25, 2010 12:08 pm

The development of PC games in some degree related to development of performance computers itself. Nowadays, game industry abounds immense financial resources to promote their products. The remarkable way is filming games. And as a consequence, people start playing games a lot. Recently, I've been to an Internet cafe. Many people there play "Counter Strike" ,in teams. I think this is addiction and useless waste of time..

Nanning,

I said no because it's all about each individual and how that individual makes his or her time worth. I have games on my laptop, desktop, phone, DS, PS, Wii... etc. There are days I can play games for hours straight just to get the satisfaction of beating the game. And there are weeks or months I don't have the time to play games yet I don't miss them. I gues it's also the games I choose that I don't get addicted.

Games cause addiction?.
Yes, no doubt. But in extreme situations of use.
When somebody is playing games all day long and forget family and friends. When somebody waste all its time and don't do nothing productive, then there is a serious problem.
By the other hand play computer games moderately it's, under my point of view, something good. Isn't a waste of time. And if we consider that as a waste of time, then we can consider a waste of time for example go to the cinema or to the football, etc.
Resuming: the extremes are always bad.

Nanning asked me about my post via PM. I thought my answer would be a contribution to this thread; therefore, I decided to post it here instead.

It's Nintendo DS. A new version of Gameboy, I think. I got mine when it first came out so mine is pretty old compared to the new version they have now.

Is it so? I only know Hong Kong, Shanghai, Fukien, Macau, Hainan, Xian, etc. Actually, I know more Chinese cities and provinces in my language more than in English because I've watched Chinese movies dubbed in Viet for years.
