Yes, both forms are correct - depending on the context of the sentence.

I will write my doubt here, since is similar: it is regarding the plural and the singular of the noun.
So I mean the noun "fish" - did I read that it is uncountable, whether it has the plural? I can see sometimes the word " fishes" in the text - whether it is the correct plural from the word "fish", whether it doesn't have plural form?

According to my native speaker you can use the form "fishes" only if you mean 2 (or more) different species of fish.

The only fishes that I caught last week were salmon and sardine.
I ate 6 fish for dinner.

I also agree with you all that food can be use both in singular and plural form. When we define 'food' it is a group and it consists more than two things.

I wouldn't say it like that, I'd say the only fish I caught last week were salmon and sardine''. I'd never use the word 'fishes'.

I usually use food in the plural form, I'm trying to think of a time I'd use food in the singular but can't...
