an important new discovery in something you are studying, especially one made after trying for a long timebreakthrough in Scientists have made a major breakthrough in the treatment of cancer.
e.g. Dr. Gabe Mirkin reports on the latest breakthroughs in Health, Fitness, Nutrition, Men's Health and Women's Health issues.
