What's the lexical connection between all these words?

Hello!
I would really appreciate it of you helped me to understand how all the words work together in this one sentence, especially at the end!

Nor will the practical Occidental be much comforted by the assurance that there are compensations in a club-like, genial spirit, which pervades.

Although I have looked up all the words in bold, I can't figure out the meaning of the whole sentence.
Thank you very much!

The meaning, in other words, is: "The practical (business-like?) Westerner will not be any
more comfortable with the assurance that there are positive aspects in a social, friendly
atmosphere, which is felt by all.
