People have different ways of escaping the stress and difficulties of modern life. Some read, some exercise and others work in their gardens. What do you think are the best ways of reducing stress?
As our life is becoming faster, it becomes a necessity for us to learn how to deal with the stress and strains in our life. Some people do some reading to reduce their stress, while others choose to exercise when they feel exhausted at work. However, I have my personal ways to cope with my stress.
First, exercise for 30 minutes every day. To my own experience, exercising 30 minutes a day is one of the best things that you can do to help relax. Exercise can help to pump blood around your body and while you are doing exercises, chemicals are being released from your brain to help the way you feel. Thus, I keep swimming 30 minutes every day. Swimming is my favorite exercise because it helps me balance my body and when I am swimming, almost every piece of my muscles is being used.
Second, listen to relaxation music. Listen to the right type of music is critical for reliving your stress. Some types of music, such as pop music, rock music can put us in a more severe stressful environment. One type of music, which research has shown to help reduce stress is Baroque music. This music is written so that there is only 60 beats per minute and funny enough that is what our heart rate should be. Baroque music has been found to increase alpha waves in both sides of our brain which help improve our learning ability, creativity and calmness. Therefore, I listen to Baroque music when I feel tired during my day.
Third, schedule breaks into my day. Work is one of the most stressful environments we can be in. One of the biggest mistakes people make is to fail to schedule breaks during working. My strategy is to set regular breaks into my day. For example, take a short walk or have a cup of coffee. These small tips effectively help refresh my mind and in turn make me more efficient in working.
In sum, exercising 30 minutes a day, listen to relaxation music and schedule regular breaks into my day are combined to help me relieve the strains in my daily life. They help me keep fit and a fit person is obviously a happy one.
