LETTER

Dear Sir or Madam

I am writing to apply for the position of Graduate Planner, as advertised on your company’s website.
I recently graduated with honours in town planning from the University of Grenoble, France and I am very interested in pursuing a career with your organization. I see your vacancy as a unique opportunity to gain experience and make a useful contribution to your company’s operations.

During my studies, I have developed a solid background of knowledge in town planning. My courses included social and economic diagnosis of urban territories, residential and commercial planning, economic development planning, urban regeneration, land-use planning and transportation planning. I also worked on small and large-scale development projects. While doing an internship with the Urban Planning and Design Institute of Shenzhen in China, I was involved in an important urban development project. I contributed to the masterplan and other zoning documents for the project. I discovered new practices of urban planning in a foreign context that strengthened my capacities of adaptation to different working environments. In November 2012, I attend a school workshop in Sfax, Tunisia. With a group of student, I produced a guiding document for the regeneration of brownfield areas in the city. During my graduation internship, I had the opportunity to improve my skills in the field of urban revitalization. I create a vision study for a blighted inner-city area in Cincinnati, USA. Through research and public hearings, I was able to identify the weaknesses of the area and I established a strategic development plan for the area. Thanks to these experiences, I developed creative and operative skills.

I am confident that my skills and experience will be beneficial to your company and to those you serve.
I am a reliable and organized person that can provide strategic and operational documents in time. I have proven interpersonal and team skills, having work with different group of professional planners and residents in different countries. I tend to have a multidisciplinary approach to my work and I am always willing to learn.

Knowing that a simple covering letter cannot be enough to present my motivations, I remain entirely at your disposal for more information or for an interview.

Thank you for your consideration

Yours faithfully,

Thank you for your time. I would truly appreciate if you could give me some feedback.
