sand painting

Post by eva8404 »

hi , this is my writing...it's an article about a woman living in hcm city, in VN

Entering the showroom at the artist resident 52AB BauCat, room 13 , Tan Binh Dist, HCM city, Vietnam visitors will bewitched by charming glasses with sand- paintings inside. The first idea of a sand-painting came simply when she put sand in to glasses to arrange some flowers, thinking of colorful sand that she often saw in nature, she asked herself to make some thing further.

The author of the sand painting is Tran Thi Hoang Lan, a woman of her 40, used to be the principal of Domestic arts and feminin ocupation school, With a close name as " Y Lan" she's also known as 3 times won prizes for " Beautiful woman".
Little by little, a lanscape of her fatherland starts to appear as the woman arranges layers of sand. It's a row of coconut trees in Ben Tre, leaning onto the river, or the figure of a young girl in traditional Ao dai and Hue cone hat. Watching her carefully and meticulously sprinkles with sand and trim to draw the veins of a coconut leaf, we can understand how care and pains and the constancy in her to finish such painting.

Her working impliments is very simple, it's a spool to sprinkle sand and a small stick to dig slots. At first her sand paintings were all about some repeat designs and uncomplicated decorations. Gradually, she became well up to do a fully done painting represented scenery with people, and has just finished a painting of an Earth god- her first work of designing a human being with many precise strokes. Painting with sand is not an easy work because u can not have a draft for this kind of painting, and when sprinkle a little obliquely, it's sure u will have to do it again. How to control sand as u like, how to tame the Sand to make it fine paintings, it's not easy to answer eventhough u have spent time trying with sand.

Today, sand painting is one kind of an beloved souvenir with prize from 50.000 VND to 200.000VND, For glasses is an fragile material sand- painting still needs some technique solutions to make it more durable, deserving the time and care the artist spends for it.
