I was once a banana but was promoted not too long ago. Now I am a mango.

According to essie, LOP stands for Long Off the Plane.

Ok, that something I haven't heard of. A mango? What does it mean? And thanks for the explanation, by the way.

Picture a banana; totally white-washed, right? Well, A mango looks yellow (sometimes) on the outside, and yellow on the inside. As a kid, I spoke little to no Chinese so I was a banana. Growing up, I started becoming interested in my own heritage so I spoke Cantonese as often as I could. I also managed somehow to read and write Chinese. So now I'm yellow on the inside as well.

Don't worry if you never heard of mango. I made that up myself!

Keep it real with the rice field???? :?
"It started out as a joke, as a mock catchphrase of Asian empowerment. Picture it: Asian Americans everywhere, connecting with their roots and finding pride in the famed rice fields of the Orient. Can't you visualize the Chinamen? Wearing those funny hats. Holding a stick or something. Squatting. It also makes no sense at all........."

Got Rice???? :?
I think this term is related to "keep it real with the rice field" in some ways. Well, for starter, it's about Asian empowerment, Asians who have so much pride being Asians that they wear their pride on their sleeves. Secondly, there used to be a song called Got Rice, which was rapped by some Asian rappers whom I think were seriously racists and discriminated. I found offended to listening to that song.

[i]"Banana is a mildly pejorative term used to describe people who are "white" (Western) on the inside and "yellow" (of east Asia) on the outside.

We also use this term in Hong Kong. Sometime we use ABC, means American Born Chinese or BBC, means British Born Chinese. petty funny.....

Yeah, there are a lot of ABC's in the States who are proud to be ABC. Other Asians called them whitewashed. Based on that acronym we sometimes called Vietnamese who are whitewashed ABV's. That's pretty offensive to my cousins who were born in the States, but to other people we know it's kinda like a compliment.
