Serpico.- YEA the oficial name is Estados Unidos Mexicanos, but nobody use that name include in official comunicatio. Example the president Vicente Fox, and all the presidents of México never said "The United States of México are ...etc" they used to say "Mexico is the first potency arround the world, because every day go out home more than 90 millions to mexicans to do anything, don´t work, don´t study, don´t do anythin, in only one word, every day more than 90 millions of mexicans hit the balls of the coountry and Mexico RESIST, SURVIVE"

Mexicans use the name of Mexico even if the oficial name is Unit States Mexicans or something that. Mexico is a republic of federations or states, and we say "Republica Mexicana" to refer all the territory, and every federation as STATE, then we have 31 states and the principal city wich according to the Politic Constitution of Mexico is called Federal District (Distrito Federal), we use to say "The D.F" to refer us to the city or Mexico City (Ciudad de México). The states have different namex: State of Coahuila, State of Veracruz, etc but we only say "Veracruz", "Coahuila", etc. There is a state that has the name of the country, I mean Mexico, then we refer to that as Estate of Mexico.
Sumarazing: The country= Mexico
The principal city= Distrito Federal or DF
State= State of Mexico

we pronounce Mexico as= Me (as MEntal)
Xi (as HEs)
Co (As COmpany)
and the first sylable ME with strong sound.

I know it perfectly, and it gives me the creeps seeing how Spaniards write it. I just can't stand it. They are just ignorant of the reason why they pronounce it one way and have to write it the other way. Fortunately we don't have this problem in Catalunya: We say Mèxic
