According to the W.H.O, tuberculosis kills about 2 million people a year. What a terrible number !
In Vietnam, people who get TB face additional problems. They are not allowed to leave their families and they are required to have the care by families and they gotta depend on their relative to get them medicine.
I would like to know some info about tuberculosis outside my country.

It's quite not the right link, but it gives some info about how the US government and people in healthcare treat it, I think. Anyway, for what I know in my daily life, students have to take TB test every year and most (98%) of the fields in healthcare require TB test. As for nursing, the one I'm studying right now, TB test is one of the major requirements to get in the program. If the applicant failed the test, he/she had to treat it first before getting accepted into the program. It's the same for students from K-12. They have to have negative result for TB test to be able to go to school because TB is an infectious and/or contagious disease.

Productive years= being able to produce; it's ended after menopause.learn_4_life wrote:I have read this sentence about TB. But I don't understand some last words. Pls help me:
Women often get TB during their productive years, They are having babies, and caring for their families, and often working in paid jobs.
I don't understand these bold words. Could anyone explain ?

Caring for their families= taking care of their families and therefore, easy to transmit the disease if they happen to carry TB
Paid jobs= for this case it would be jobs that are associated with a lot of communication or crowded working factories; therefore, easy to transmit disease.
Anyway, give me the whole paragraph because this sentence is not clear to me. I can't interpret it the way it's supposed to be. Those above are just my guesses. Sorry about it.

This is the whole paragraph
Tuberculosis kills about two million people a year. The international campaign called Stop TB says this lung dease kills more men than women in most of the world. Yet it says tuberculosis kills more women than all pregnancy related disorders combined. And in some cultures, women who get TB face additional problems. They may not be able to leave their families or their jobs to go to a health center that is far away. They may be required to have their husband, father, or brother take them for care. They may also have to depend on men to get them medicine. Women often get Tb during their productive years. They are having babies, caring for their families, and often working in paid jobs. Most women who die of tuberculosis are between the ages of fifteen and forty-four. Often they die for lack of treament or because of poor treament.
