Be vs Be about

Post by pdh0224 »

Dear teacher,

John Moore in The Denver Post wrote: "The youngster's future as a Broadway star is about as inevitable as stars on a clear spring night."

Q : What is the difference between the sentence having "about" and the sentence without "about"? I think there is no difference. What do you think?
