My travel to London !

Post by shokin »

I don't remember much my travel to London. It was 3 years ago and I did not take many photos.

With my sister we travelled Geneva-LondonHeathrow by EasyJet.

We visit the Tussaut Museum.

We visit the Harrod's, a great shop, but like a museum : very beautiful, many things, but too expensive.

We visit many bars.

We ate in two asian restaurants :

one : fish and ships, but very awful and too fat. We did not spend much time there.

the other : sushis ! very good, very cheap (15£ and you can eat as much as you want, and pay drinks).

Impressions :

- people are stressed (except tourists  )
- very expensive (more than great cities in Switzerland)
- rainy days
- that is the only time that I have travelled in an english-speaking country.

At this time, 3 years ago, I was not interested in cultures as much as now. So I haven't visited much London (even not the Big Ben). I don't know much about their culture.

Maybe we could go to London together! :D

Did you like fish and ships? When I first heard about this weird combination I was in college, reading a text by Dylan Thomas (I think this is something I will always remember). That was then when I found out it's a typical English dish. You can buy it in the street just like you would buy a packet of gum. I would like to live that experience also, although I know I wouldn't like it... :D

Why wouldn't you like this experience ?

Fish and ships, I like, only if it is well done.

To go to London... heu... no... cos'...

I won't travel more until at least end may 2006 (work and work, study and study ; earning money without wasting it).

I project to travel next summer in some countries which are :

at least :

The Quebec (maybe 1 week in end june), again !
Netherlands (Amsterdam)
Norway (Oslo)

maybe (but costs are costs) :

Sweden
Danemark

(this 4 last countries, for knowing more about their system, social and environmental, on the ground)

One trip greater than the preceding.

Bueno... tengo que tomar de nuevo mi libros de idiomas !

Was it really foggy? I've heard that England is always foggy. I wonder if it's true or not.

I have never been to England but I had a girlfriend and a cousin that lived there for 1 year. They both said that the price of healthy food there is so expensive.

As a general rule apparently the British tend to eat very starchy foods (like puddings made with a lot of flour and eggs; and batter). The reason for this is probably 1. the weather (very cold). 2. The price and availability of fruit and vegetables.

My friend told me that she couldn't wait to get back to Australia and have a piece of steak and salad. She said she just couldn't afford to buy it over there. She did tell me the prices; but with time I have forgotten. I do remember that it was just out of this world.

hi, thank you very much for this information Shokin, i was seeing the sites and it seems that the youth hostel in piccadilly is on everybody wanna be, i mean... i heard many people that have been in london saying that piccadilly is a place where you have to go if you are visiting london, the prices of the twin room's aren’t so cheap as the multiple rooms, but i'm thinking as a good possibility to stay because of the location, i think this way I can stay in a bar drinking something until late hours and after just go to bed without catching any transport... but before make the reservation i'll take another look to the other sites to see if i find something better, thank you

I've not been in a picadilly but in a very cheap youth hostel.

Picadilly seem me to be good, beautiful. And I heard that, normally, their prices were acceptable, not the most expensive (as the Hilton  ).

In all cases, if you go to London, prepare a great budget.
