Yes I love Kiwi fruit and so does my daughter. They are so sweet and easy to eat. They originate from New Zealand though not Australia.

I love kiwi. You know, the first time I heard of it, I thought it was from Japan because you know, KIWI  . Anyway, I could eat kiwi all day. Whenever there is a kiwi season, my mom will buy a lot of them and I'm the only one in the house end up eating them all  .

Yeh I heard that but that was like hundreds of years ago I think. They have been pretty much adopted by New Zealand; as far as I know they are the main World provider of it now. But I could be wrong.

Not so long ago really.

Kiwi fruit history
Kiwifruit, Actinidia chinensis, was formerly known as the Chinese gooseberry. Surprisingly, although it is associated with New Zealand, kiwifruit actually originated in the Chang Kiang Valley of China. The Chinese used it as a tonic for children and women after childbirth due to its high nutritional value, but never truly enjoyed it as a fruit. It was first exported from Asia as an ornamental vine, perfect for arbors, in the early 1900s. The kiwifruit arrived first in 1904 in the United States and later in 1906 found its way to New Zealand. Yet it was the New Zealanders who recognized the potential of this succulent fruit and began cultivating it for commercial profit.

I think Danyet was a researcher in a previous life. If he doesn't know the answer he can find it. I might have to set him a challenge one of these days.
