Post by MissLT »

Imagine if one of the EC members came to your city for a vacation, what would be your suggestions and advices for that person to have a nice and pleasant trip?

My advice? Bring money, and lots of it.

Oh, and at this time of year, bring clothing, and lots of it!

This is nice of you. So, you all have heard him, right??? This is his warmth-welcoming-guests invitation--if you wanna visit Oman, don't worry about spending money. Just buy your ticket and he'll handle everything else from there. Again, our headline of this thread, "Extra! Extra! Wanna visit Oman? Just buy your ticket and Mr_Love will take care of everything!"

These are my tips for a tourist visiting California:
1. Must-visit places: Disneyland, Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Castro District (if you never seen many gays at one place  ), Universial Studio in Hollowood, Santa Cruz, Monterey Beaches, Baker Beach (nude beach in S.F), and many more I can't remember right now.
2. Staying in Los Angeles?= It's mostly hot, don't bring Eskimo jackets or shoes  . Staying in San Francisco?= It's mostly cold, bring them jackets. Other places in California?= Bring both types of clothing.
3. Buy cheap things?= Go to Chinatown or Walmart  . Buying expensive things?= Go to stores that sell souvenirs for tourists.
4. Going to eat?= Ask the residents.
5. Getting around? Bart or rent a car. Taxi is a ripped-off.
Ask me if you'd like more. I can't think of anymore right now.

Don't walk around alone at nights in certain places.
Don't miss Machu Picchu.
Forget about wearing a big hat and carrying a huge backpack while walking around. It just looks stupid. It's like ..."Hellooo I'm not from here"

Uhh...Lalee, not all travelers want to blend into the local population. I, for one, want to be seen as a tourist.

So in your country you can't mingle with the locals if you're a tourist?

Of course you can.
The thing is that once you told me that you enjoyed mingling with the locals, right?
And now are you telling me that you want to be noticed as a tourist?
Make up your mind, would ya?

Tourist - One who travels for pleasure.

Mingle - To join or take part with others, usually without loss of individual characteristics.

I tell you I like to be a tourist who mingles with locals. Is that not possible? You tell me I can't do that and that I must choose between the two. What gives?

Ok, ok. Calm down.
I misunderstood you, alright?
So you like to be noticed as a tourist and also mingle with the locals, got it.
Yeah, you sure can do that here.
But imagine if you were to go to Vietnam "again", you wouldn't be noticed there as a tourist but as a local.
