What do you think about internet dating?

I have been on my own for a while and I was wondering what the members think about meeting people over the internet. I am a little bit worried about it. What do you think the rules should be if you do meet someone over the internet?

I agree Dixie I am so scared of doing anything because I think that you should connect with people when you meet and chat etc. It is so frightening but because I spend so much time at home looking after my daughter it is like the internet has re-entered my life. I am going to be so careful. For example I have been contacted by one man and I have told him that I will communicate with him by email for a while then maybe meet for coffee. I just dont' want someone thinking that it is going to be sex and nothing else. Thanks Dixie for your opinion.

I use online dating (like okcupid) occasionally. I think it's a nice platform to come in touch with singles and you may find such a great partner who is right for you.

Well I do not know much about rules to meet someone online. I will look forward someone here for the same.

I have met a couple of really nice guys from the internet. I must admit I no longer participate in it as I found it too hard. There is definately a fear factor involved as sometimes people aren't always what they seem. You have to be very careful about how much information you give someone that you are interested in. I make a rule of never giving my address or phone number. If they want to chat on the phone I get their number and as I have my mobile phone on private they can't trace my number this way. It sounds terrible but I think you have to be very careful until you truly get to know the person.

I have been lucky but I have heard some terrible stories about online dating, so basically you just have to use your common sense. On a brighter note as I said I have met a couple of really great guys and we have maintained friendships.

Why don't you try this site first, meetup.com. I have an account there although I haven't really met up with anyone in the groups I joined yet, for there's always been a time conflict. Nonetheless, people in the groups I joined have had good times to meet each other and share the same hobbies. I think this is a safer way to date new people if you don't really trust the online dating thing. For one thing, you'll know for sure you won't be alone on your "date," and you'll get to meet many people at once. It opens up your circle of connection. I'm supposed to meet my groups this month for Massage Therapy and French practice. My hiking group is having a meeting next month that I won't be able to join because the location they all pick is too far; it's a lovely location, though.

I'm sorry I cannot give you a definite answer for that question as I have never tried the dating groups they have there. I found this site while looking for a hobby group in my town, so it'd always been a hobby group gathering kinda thing for me until you mentioned about dating. Why don't you give it a try and let me know how it turns out?

Thanks for sharing this site with us. Is it working in UK or not? Well, I already using another free online dating UK site. I also found my girlfriend on this site and we are happy with each other so I don't think I will require any other dating site.
