Wills and home ownership!!!

Postby Shazzam » Thu Jun 28, 2007 5:57 am

In Australia home ownership is at record highs because the goverment is assisting people to get into their own homes. Until recently I didn't understand the importance of having a will because I never had any assets.

What I didn't realise is that we all have assets, whether it is furniture, car etc.

What do you think? Should people have a Will?

I think if you don't the government takes more off you than they should. Unless you have a great family that just works it out for themselves.

I would be interested to see what other EC members think. Also how many of you have a Will?

Here in our Country, seldom of us have a Will, except for the very rich persons with a great big family. For the common family, all the assets will be transfer to his/her sons after they died although they don't make a Will. The assets are only their house or car. No more I think. But how about if they don't have a son? Will transfer to their daughters? I am not sure of that.

please, clarify it to me once again  So... if a proprietor dies a house and a car go to male children automatically and if there are no male children female children are about to have their troubles for nothing? should I tell that's not fair? :?
Russian Law is also very specific in a part that concerns heritage. I'll find out the details in case not to be unsupported by evidence

I think that, as soon as you own a property, you need to get a will.

I checked our law just now. And found that both son or daughter have the right to gain heritage. If the proprietor died, his following relatives can get his assets as following:
The first place: Consort, Son or daughters, parents
The Second place: Sister&brothers, Grandparent

But how to say, in the country side, once the daughter married, she will get less than the sons.

Will?

Postby Bambang » Mon Aug 06, 2007 6:57 am

I don't need to prepare any will because I've nothing to pass on.

However, a will is crucial if you are rich and have children and you don't want them to fight for your wealth after your death.
