I'm gonna assume that they couldn't find any blond-hair-blued-eyes boy who could act good enough to portrait him. I'm not even gonna bother with the racial issue right now. I hope this is not the main concern. His mother is German in the book, and she has no sympathy for Hitler. Assef is just a psychopath. I wonder if they would show him more or let people who haven't read the book yet know his personality. He's a main key in the relationship and fate of Haasan and Amir.

Hardcover? If yes, it's pretty cheap. If it's paperback, it's about the same price in the States. Is the tax expensive?
