Dixie, there's someone there who appeared to be different from the rest. (S)he must be the leader. I think (s)he is wearing a costume.

Well, I think it's pretty obvious. What the hell do they know about a helicopter? They saw a noisy flying monster that looked hostile and tried to defend themselves.

Maybe they thought it was a dragon stalking from the skies. I suppose they have near to zero technology, it's like Tarzan in the movie Greystoke, when they carry him to the city...
