Insults, injuries and heart break!

Postby Shazzam » Fri Jan 19, 2007 11:54 am

Well I know that this is a strange topic to post in this forum, but I felt as an Aussie it needed to start somewhere.

We all have things that affect our hearts for example:

AUSTRALIAN TRADITION:

Most men drink beer.
Weekend BBQ's at the beach in summer.
Women wear bikinis (if they have good enough bodies, trust me: i'm not going there)
Thongs: No not the pants; shoes!!!

Now we come to insults:

People that don't accept the above and comment about it.

INJURIES

When people think that they can hurt other people verbally or otherwise because they don't agree.

HEART BREAK

When we all want to get on, but can't because someone feels the need to INSULT!

Which takes me back to number one INSULT.

What do you think Australia is all about? Do you have any ideas about what you think Australian people are like and what the community and culture is here?

My own stereotype? Well, I think the first things would pop up in my mind subconsciously are kangaroos and boomerangs. Sometimes, it would be tribes in the deep forests like the Amazon forest. Or it could be the name of the city, Sydney. And Nemo!

Cool response Lenny! :D I think so many people think that way of Australia. Our outback is nothing like the Amazon, it is vast and not lush in fact more like a desert. Boomerangs are an indigenous hunting weapon that were really popular when i was a kid (not that many white people) can use them. I was never successful (it is an art form being able to use one).

Truth is we have become very Americanised especially in the capital cities. If you were to come to Australia you would look at Sydney in a similar way to any large city in America. (NOT AS BIG AS NY of course).

I hope you come in Spring or Summer because we are experiencing a very cold winter. No snow on the east coast though. :)

I tried to use a boomerang when I was younger. It was a toy but I still wasn't successful with it. I ended up losing it. Haha.

When I think of Australia, I think about Steve Irwin and the wonderful creatures there! I'll be sure to visit it one of these days.

Oh, and the Sydney Opera!
