Samba has several variations, and Bossa Nova is one of them. Bossa Nova is not popular as is was in the 60's and 70's. Today bossa nova is considered music of cult people. I love bossa nova
One of the most popular variations of samba is called "pagode", it's played in lots of radios and its musics usually have love or funny lyrics. The last of the popular variation of samba is that played in the carnival.
Other variation of samba is called "choro", and it's usually instrumental. It's not so popular.
