If you've only been around them a few minutes at a time a few times, that's not enough second hand smoke to cause COPD. As long as you're not a smoker you're okay.
However, regular exposure to someone else's smoke, especially in closed spaces, can cause COPD.

I am not a smoker, but I am always secondhand smoker from my colleagues. I don't know how to explain to them that they make harmful to the rest ones due to the smoking.
