What is wrong with my paragraph?

Postby bookworm » Tue Sep 15, 2009 10:09 pm

Year 2020, mankind popularly accepts the idea behind Evolution of Creation. The theory attributes the origin of existence to a set of natural instructions generated through the dual pairing of something and nothing. From this universally accepted breakthrough, human beings of all colors - black, white, brown, red, yellow, pink, silver and green - unite together as family for the first time in the history of the world. Representatives from every nation established the Grand Organization of Democratic Society, acronym G.O.D.S. This organization, which replaced United Nations, is the most powerful institution in the world. GODS rules the earth. Their mission: a decent meal on every table AND enjoy life to its fullest. Their battle cry: "Life is 10% Work and 90% Merriment". Their catchword: “People help People".

Well thank you. But here are really my questions?

1. How come the word accepts is not in the future tense or past tense, since 2020 has not yet came (or come)?
2. If accepts will be in past tense will the remaining sentences be in past tense too?
3. You said that my paragraph is correct, but they are made up of the combination of past tense and present tense, like accepts, attributes, unite (or united), established (or establishes), replaced (or replaces). Has verb agreements here been lost?

Thanks again.

I think my questions are not clearly understood, so I rewrite the paragraph as shown below. Obviously the paragraph below is wrong. Can you please explain why? Like for example why accepts is correct and not accepted?

Year 2020, mankind popularly accepted the idea about the Evolution of Creation. The theory attributes our origin of existence to a set of instinctive rules generated through the principle of dual pairing. From this empirical breakthrough, human beings of all colors - black, white, brown, red, yellow, pink, silver and green - united together as family for the first time in the history of the world. Representatives from every nation formed the Grand Organization of Democratic Societies, acronym G.O.D.S. This organization, which replaced United Nations, is the most powerful institution in the world. GODS rules the earth. Their main pillars of life are to have a decent meal on every table and to enjoy life to its fullest. Their battle cry - "Life is 10% Work and 90% Merriment". Their catchword - “People helps People".

Thanks a lot!
