I guess it is a slang used in sports and games like golf, pool and card games. I heard it on an old tv series called "Cheers". An old man seems to be playing pool kicks the ball uncontrollably and it goes out of the room in which he is playing. The leading man, Sam gets it unexpectedly while he is opening the door and the old man thanks him. Here is what he says:
Old Man: "Three balls, corner pocket. .. Thanks Sam, A little too much English on that."
So, I just wonder what he means there by saying that. I searched for this but I couldn't find what it means.
Please help me.
Many thanks, in advance...

Re: "A little too much English" ?
I've checked with a friend who plays pool and apparently it's an American term for "spin".
They say:
- top English (top spin)
- bottom English (bottom spin)
- left English (left spin)
- right English (right spin)
So what I understand is that he put too much spin on the ball and made it jump off the table and out of the room.
