Belly, Stomach or sth else?

Post by Irina »

Hello!

There are several words in Engish meaning the front of the body. But what word should we use in this sentence: My sister's going to have a baby next month, but you'd never say that because her ?????? is so small.

Thank you very much!!!

Stomach is related to your internal organs. Belly external and tummy when you talk about some one who is pregnant.. pre and post XD .. Have u ever heard about tummy surgeries? When ladies remove the extra skin from pregnancy.

The more appropriate way of saying it is:

My sister's going to have a baby next month, but you can never tell because her tummy is so small.

I agree with Oriani, stomach refers to the organ where digestion takes place. So when you talk about a pregnant woman, you don't say stomach because the baby is actually in her uterus :)

Typically when you are talking about an expected child, you wouldn't use those direct words.

"My sister's going to have a baby next month, but you'd never say that (know that) because she isn't showing"
