the loneliest day of my life

Post by AlexCWO »

Hi there!
Me and a friend of mine were discussing the song by System of a down - Lonely day and there is a line there 'the loneliest day of my life'. After that I was wondering if it is possible to say 'the loneliest day IN my life'. I'm from Russia and this is like the people here would say.
Let me know what do you think please.
Thnx.

'Of' is correct. Grammatically, 'life' counts as a period, not a place (cf. the longest day OF the year, etc.).
