Conditional with as long as

Post by adelliaal »

1. Can someone tell me what tense to use after "as long as" in the example below?

If I decided to stay, I would be likely to eat more as long as my wife approves/approved.

If + past + past + ?

2. Can we use "can" in an if conditional? What is wrong with the sentence below?

If you can learn to be nicer, you ought to find that people like you more.

Thanks for your help!
