I'm writing an essay, and just wondering can I speak like this:

But, what's more important, the goal of any research in robotics is to improve the quality of people's lives by pushing the limits of what we can do, and this is exactly what underactuated systems are sharpened to do.

Specifically, I'm interested in "systems are sharpened to do". But, if there are more that I need to correct, please, respond it.

Not exactly sure what you want to say, but "sharpened" is not really possible.

Do you mean the following?

...and this is exactly what underactuated systems are designed to do.

Or perhaps...

...and this is exactly what underactuated systems are specialised in.

Yes, something like that. Just want to say that purpose of underactuated systems is to push the limits of what we can do. So, what is the best choice?
