to keep him safe/to be kept safe

Postby navi » Wed Apr 02, 2014 12:43 pm

Which are correct:

1-He was given a false identity to keep him safe.
2-He was given a false identity to be kept safe.

3-He was sent to the countryside to keep him safe.
4-He was sent to the countryside to be kept safe.

Gratefully,
Navi.

All grammatically possible, but #2 is rather absurd.
