ELI offers intensive pre-academic ESL in 2 month sessions for beginning to advanced students. Located on an urban campus on the seaside between Boston and New York. Small classes, friendly teachers with advanced degrees, language lab.
ELI is located on the campus of the University of Bridgeport on the Connecticut coast. It is about 1 hour to New York City and 3 hours to Boston. ELI is an intensive English language program with sessions starting every 8 weeks at 6 levels of ability from beginning to advanced. Some special features of our program are a modern multi-media language laboratory, small classes of 3 to 15, a focus on preparing students for university work in the U.S., dedicated and enthusiastic teachers, and a waiver of TOEFL scores for graduates of ELI continuing on at the University of Bridgeport. Students who complete Level 6 receive a Certificate of Graduation.
All students take classes in Reading, Composition, Grammar, and Listening & Speaking. Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Small classes of 5 to 15 students allow ELI teachers to meet the individual needs of students and provide high quality instruction. We offer free after class conversation practice, tutoring, and homework help.
As an ELI student, you will have full access to university buildings, events, activities, and cultural trips. ELI also plans trips and activities so you have even more opportunities to have fun and learn about the U.S. Examples of trips are Boston, New York City, New Haven, baseball games, seaside villages, Native American and art museums.
On campus housing is available for all students.
