The English Language Institute at Notre Dame of Maryland University is an intensive English program for international women and men who want to improve their English language skills.
In eight-week sessions, students at all levels study writing, grammar, reading, listening and speaking, pronunciation, vocabulary, TOEFL preparation and American culture. After attending the ELI, students move on to undergraduate studies, graduate studies, and careers.
Although ELI students come from all over the world speaking different languages, together they form a community that makes the ELI experience unique. In each session, there are 20-25 different countries represented. This diversity makes English proficiency a necessity and motivates study and language acquisition. The ELI’s professional and nurturing faculty and staff take an interest in each student’s well-being.
The ELI is proud of this personal touch which sets it apart from many larger programs. The ELI is located in one of Baltimore’s most prestigious and secure neighborhoods. Baltimore is a city that offers something for everyone. The Inner Harbor offers great restaurants, shopping, museums, and clubs. For sports lovers, Baltimore is home to the Orioles baseball team and the Ravens football team. For art and music lovers, the Baltimore Museum of Art, Walters Art Gallery, Lyric Opera House, Center Stage Theater, and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra provide cultural enrichment within 10 minutes of campus.
