4-week intensive courses leading to the Cambridge CELTA, the most widely recognized qualification in ELT. The CELTA is accredited by ESOL Examinations, a part of the University of Cambridge.
4-week intensive (9-5pm, Mon-Fri) courses run year-round in downtown Seattle.
A brief overview of core components:
120 total hours
6 hours of Assessed Teaching Practice.
6 hours of Experienced Teacher Observations.
48+ hours of focused input sessions.
The remaining hours are spent observing peer lessons (completing observation tasks), participating in feedback, and guided lesson planning.
There are 4 written assignments.
Through input sessions, Teaching Practice, feedback, guided lesson planning, and the assignments, the course syllabus consists of five units of learning that deal with specific topic areas in the teaching of ESOL:
Unit 1 - Learners and teachers, and the teaching and learning context.
Unit 2 - Language analysis and awareness.
Unit 3 - Language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing.
Unit 4 - Planning and resources for different teaching contexts.
Unit 5 - Developing teaching skills and professionalism.
